Sex Ed: Inside and Outside the Home

Danielle has already brought up a great point about how often issues pertinent for LGBT kids and teens are left out of sex ed and what that means for their self-esteem (among other things).

As a follow-up, here are two posts from the Good Men Project about sexual education:

“7 Things Sex Education Should Have Taught Us But Didn’t”

“Healthy Sex Talk: Teaching Kids Consent, Ages 1-21”

I find the second one very interesting, because you can see the ways that non-sexual, and sometimes even non-gendered, parts of our socialization can have an effect on how we approach sexual relationships.

  1. I really enjoyed both of these articles, especially the second one. I love how they broke it down for the different ages and how things could be tackled.
